Magnox lifts RoSPA award

31 May 2008

Magnox Electric has been awarded the 2008 Royalty Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Engineering Construction Sector Award. This is the second year in a row the company has won this honor recognizing performance across the ten Magnox Reactor sites in the United Kingdom.

RoSPA presents the award for the most outstanding performance in health and safety by an organization within a particular sector. Steve Creamer, CEO and Chairman of EnergySolutions (Magnox Electric’s parent body) accepted the award on behalf of the nearly 4,000 Magnox Electric employees who made this honour possible.

He said: "This award goes to all the hard working Magnox Electric employees who take safety seriously both on and off job.

"This culture of safety is a standard we strive for in all of our world-wide operations. We appreciate RoSPA recognising us as a company dedicated to a safe working environment."

In order to qualify for the RoSPA award, Magnox Electric had to demonstrate a robust and high quality safety management system with four years of consistently executing or continuously improving health and safety performance.
