A first for Magnox South stakeholder engagement

31 July 2008

A new approach to stakeholder engagement was pioneered by Magnox South recently – and gained excellent feedback from attendees.

An open style forum meeting was held in London, with the aim of giving Magnox South’s Site Stakeholder Group (SSG) and Local Community Liaison Council (LCLC) representatives the opportunity to question Ken Powers.

Three chairs and a vice chair were among the small number of key site stakeholders who attended with all five Magnox South SSGs and LCLCs being represented. Dave Warner of the NDA, Magnox South executive members Mark Lesinski and Ray Jepps, together with a small number of senior union personnel from Magnox South, also attended.

The main topic of discussion was the NDA Business Plan which was published on 1 April 2008, but stakeholders also had the opportunity to ask questions on other subjects.

Feedback was extremely positive and in particular gave participants the opportunity to seek information ahead of the bi-annual National Stakeholder Group (NSG) meeting in Edinburgh.

Particular praise was given to SSG secretariats from the chairs for their outstanding support and hard work since the SSGs were set-up in 2005.

The company was asked to look at the possibility of holding a similar meeting ahead of the next NSG.
