Over the last financial year the Chapelcross Charity Snowball Fund has helped 41 local groups and charities to the sum of £5694.82.
The Chapelcross Charity Snowball Committee, made up of workforce representatives and employees, meets on a quarterly basis and makes awards between £50 - £500 to local charities, good causes and organisations that write in requesting support.
All the money in the Fund is raised solely from monthly contributions made by members of the current site workforce and retired employees. The Fund has been in place for over 25 years and in that time has awarded over £100,000 to hundreds of local worthy causes. The Snowball Fund criteria provides tangible pieces of equipment, one off events, etc and does not fund running costs of organisations.
In the last year organisations such as Molly’s Wish, Annan ENABLE, A&E Chest, Heart & Stroke Group, Annandale & Eskdale Driving Group for the Disabled, Gemini Fund at D&G Infirmary, Annan Riding for the Disabled and A&E Toy Library were among the 41 charity organisations that received support from the Fund.
Chapelcross Charity Snowball Fund Chairman, Sean Marshall said, “We are delighted that solely due to the kindness of members of the current Chapelcross workforce and retired employees we are able to help so many local, good and deserving causes.”
